Best Ram Trucks for Towing in Arlington TX (2026)
If you’re looking for a truck around Arlington or the DFW area and towing matters to you, Ram trucks are definitely worth looking at. A lot of drivers I talk to are trying to figure out which truck will actually handle what they need — whether that’s pulling a boat, hauling a camper, or towing equipment for work.
I work with Ram trucks every day here in Arlington, and two models usually come up the most when someone asks about towing: the Ram 1500 and the Ram 2500.
Ram 1500
For most people, the Ram 1500 ends up being the sweet spot. It has plenty of towing power but still drives like a comfortable everyday truck.
Depending on the setup, the Ram 1500 can tow up to about 12,750 pounds, which is more than enough for things like boats, small campers, or trailers.
A lot of people around Arlington choose the Ram 1500 because it’s easy to live with day-to-day. You get the towing capability when you need it, but it still rides smooth if you’re commuting or driving around town.
Ram 2500
If you know you’re going to be towing heavier loads, the Ram 2500 is where things step up.
This truck is built more for serious work, especially if it has the Cummins diesel engine. That motor gives you a lot more torque, which makes a big difference when you’re pulling something heavy.
The Ram 2500 is usually the better choice if you’re towing things like:
large campers
equipment trailers
heavy work trailers
Which One Makes More Sense?
Most drivers around Arlington fall into one of these two situations:
If you want a truck that tows well but still works great as a daily driver, the Ram 1500 is usually the way to go.
If you know you’re going to be pulling heavier trailers regularly, the Ram 2500 is the better fit.
